What to know before driving to a mall in Santiago

Retail in Santiago clusters around one very specific junction: Juan Pablo Duarte avenue and Estrella Sadhalá. That point is the city new commercial epicenter and also its most congested, especially between 5:00 and 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday afternoons. 27 de Febrero avenue, where Colinas Mall sits, works as an alternative when the Duarte corridor is saturated. A practical detail: several underground garages have narrow ramps and lower levels that are hard to exit, so it pays to drive up to the higher levels where there is usually more space.
